Hi ,   I think your idea is good and logical to implement , what you can do is 
:   Create a main form , page , layer to access an underlying layer function in 
a synchronous manner .   Underlying layer will do the asynchronous processing 
call to a webservice .   You can have both the layer being part of same project 
or can implement circul;ar referencing , so till the point your call waits it 
will show up some generic form or progress bar etc .   and moment it returns 
you can return the control and values back to main form .   like this you will 
definitely be hiding unnecessary complexity from ur co - developer and that guy 
will be making a sync call .   regards ,   Mrinal
