hi the point raised by mrinal is that in  that scenario the code will work with 
version 1 but i ll suggest can you please delete the dll all total donot keep 
any copy only keep in gac . is it working ?it didn't work for me the compile 
error was metadata not found. The process i followed was install the assembly 
into GAC after that ref that assembly from it physical store .    further I was 
 not considering side by side of keep versioning. thus i still stick with the 
fact that we should not delete the physical copy as this will cause exception . 
   In case of side by side execution waht mrinal has pointed is absolutely 
right. Thus the discussion is what cointains the gac?if it has nothing to do 
with the physical copy then my code should work after i delete the assembly.If 
there is links to the physical copy when i am chanmging the version it should 
affetected.   Posting the answer to this later as i am now looking for the 
inner struct of gac.     thansk shreeman
