Hello Gopal,

Your doubt is very genuine. You r using relative measurements and
unfortunately u haven't provided parameters of the parent i.e table.
So based on some assumptions, replying :)

CSS uses so many measurement techniques. One of them is '%' or
relative measurements. See whenever u r trying to assign relative
parameters, u will be needing some base.

In ur case, u r trying to assign widths in %. First td is getting 60%
and second one 40% or REST 40%!!!. But my friend it is taking 60%/40%
of some value, whats that??? have u defined some width of table i.e.
100% or 500px? if not try assigning that.

And yes once u have assigned 60% to first cell, and if there are only
2 cells, u need not assigning any width to the second one.

Hope this helps, if not try posting more code (complete table).
