----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on BDOTNET
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Mrinal Message 7 in Discussion Hi , I am sorry for bit late reply , but this is what i think : I had specifically mentioned creating view in Sql server as a possible work around , as it's definitely not the same thing as synonyms in Oracle , which are nothing but an alias or second name for db objects for easy access in queries or to other users instead of using the standard format of <Username>.<Object> everytime and when ever we use Syninyms essentially we are directly accessing the object , which if a table can have constraints being added or removed . On the other hand Views are just the Readonly filtered portion of the Table , which can't be modified , but the fact remains that you can actually create constraints or remove them from base object and refresh the view to get the latest update . Otherwise , i think there must be some alias like thing that might me existing in sql server too to serve the same function , lemme check out and i will get back to u . thanks , Mrinal ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/bdotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
