----------------------------------------------------------- From: sndshreeman Message 8 in Discussion Hi Mrinal, There are scenarios where u can prefer the custom one above the Async delegate and ther are other scenario where you would like to implement Async one above the custom thread mechanism.Functionality wise both are almost same as internally the delegate do invoke the calls in a secondary thread.By invoking the same using the delegate has both advantages and limitations.some examples of Limitation are the no of threads in thread pools ,calling manged code and advantages are inbuilt facility for thread pool ,queueworkuser class and binding of the delegate as for the custom thraed it is quite a few task needed to pass the data as parameter (it reqd void() sig ..that is the threadstartdelegate needs to ve a method with void methodname()..). As the waiting functionality are concerned the inbuilt Asyncresult and the waitone and waitall are good candidate to handle this and are perfect candidate for the thread.join scenario .Further there is inbuilt shared thread counter which u can implement to check the state of the thread calls.. For the scenario where one is better thenb the other you can check out this http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/04/06/BasicInstincts/ thx shreeman ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/BDOTNET/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
