Dear SQL Gurus, I have a problem in Distributed transaction in MSDE2a of SQL
Server. My problem is: I need to insert/update some transaction on another SQL
Server enterprise edition (2000 with sp3a installed) from MSDE version of SQL
Server(No service pack). I created a link server between them by using the
following statements. EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
   'MAINSERVER',
   '',
   'MSDASQL',
   NULL,
   NULL,
   'DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=SQLSERV;UID=uid;PWD=pwd;'
GO Select statements are working like a song. But distributributed transaction
is not working. Both SQL Server and SQL Server agent are running in local
system account. Microsoft Distributed Coordinator service is running in NT
authority\Administrator account in both the systems. I used 'Begin Distributed
tran' for inserting it into one table. But it throws.. The operation could not
be performed because the OLE DB provider 'MSDASQL' was unable to begin a
distributed transaction.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server
Driver]Distributed transaction error]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'MSDASQL' ITransactionJoin::JoinTransaction
returned 0x8004d00a].
Can anyone help me on solving this problem?

Regards
Viswanathan.
