Hi friends, I need to design a digital dashboard that will display KPI (Key
Performance Indicator) in graphical meters. This probably uses Sharepoint
portal, web parts, SQL Reporting tool and ASP.NET. I had posted similiar
requirement with a heading "Your comments on Dashboard" SharePoint and SQL
Reporting:
Since the presentation has to be on the web, it can be done through portal
(Sharepoint), a single entry point that facilitates navigation of web based
information. We know that it provides these information in the form of web
parts. Some of the web parts of sharepoint are Contact, Events, Announcements
etc. SQL Reporting services provide 2 such web parts namely: Explorer and
Viewer. Explorer is used to navigate between reports and Viewer is used for
displaying the reports. So these web parts can be embedded into the sharepoint
portal server. Source Data:
One of the constraint is it need to extract data from both SQL and Oracle and
represent these KPI's in BI kind of reports. How do we achieve this? What is
DashBoard:
A dashboard is a vital tool for monitoring the daily health of your
organization. From a single interface, decision makers have access to key
performance indicators (KPIs)—actionable information that can be used to
actively guide business performance. Example of Digital Dashboard:
Lets consider a simple example. Say a company has a sales target of 500 billion
dollars and they currently stand at 50 billion dollar. Now this has to be shown
in the KPI as it is a critical point and should reflect in the KPI as graphical
meter. This could be seen by the CFO and he/she would like to probably drill
down to see more information. How do we relect these graphical meters? Is there
any web part available for this? So, please put your design CAP ON and lets
starts various design ideas, tools to be used, with optimal expenditure on
client licenses. Regards,
Shrinath Inamdar
