Folks:- It is very simple and quite intersting too... Basically,
Every file extension has one registry key. All the registry keys that we are
use are strored under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. It stores them in this form. Every
file extension is given key. This key will be exactly the same as the file
extension including the dot(e.g., HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bmp). so do following
steps: STEP #1: First try to opensubkey using following code snippet....
//Check whether the FileExtension has been registered or not?
Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey oRegistryKey =
Microsoft.Win32.Registry.ClassesRoot.OpenSubKey( ".BM_");
//if not registered, then assign rootfolder as URL
if(oRegistryKey == null)
{
Console.Write("Unregonized File Extension or Format");
}
else
{
Console.Write("Correct format");
}
Thanx,
Smith
