Hi Deepak,   Thanks for your reply.   But our customer requirement is that, 
they don't want any blank item or null item in the drop down reason being...   
Though a blank or null item is provided, assume that if this kind of swapping 
if it has to be done in N rows in a grid, then each of these places, first it 
has to be changed into Null in all these places (or atleast in the places where 
and all the item is repeated) and then only the swapping can be done. From the 
end - user point of view, it is bit annoying..   My qn.:- 1) Is there any way 
in the datagrid, where I can say, don't fire any of these kind of validations.? 
  Because, all I want is, when the user press the "Save" button, the validation 
has to be fired, until then the user should be allowed free to edit as many
