Another thing you must consider should be MSMQ. It is common knowledge that the 
reads/writes to MSMQ is faster and more efficient than DB. So the answers could 
be pushed in as messages into MSMQ and on ASP.NET Session_End, trigger a 
process to pick the relevant messages and update the database.    You may also 
consider a load balancing service (windows service) which could choose from the 
MSMQs installed on both the App Server and the DB server so as to split the 
load across your available servers. The ASP.NET app will talk to this service 
only. This service may also take responsibility to commit the messages into the 
DB when instructed by the ASP.NET app.    However, these are not quick-fix
