 Hi All,
As of now we have many opensource PIM and personal Finace applications, I tried
my hand at them and found them to be good. However, there was little
documentation about their internal architecture.
I propose to make an application which will not only provide the source code
and steps to compile, but also will detail about the internal architecture so
that an new developer can extend it. It will also serve as a good initial
learning point for people new to UML and object orientated programming.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/winhome/

Winhome will have the following Features
1) Personal Finance Manager.
2) Personal Information manager.
3) Monthly Alarms and Alerts.
4) To be Added...

Tools:
Language - C#
Database - DB4o
OS - Windows XP.
IDE - Visual C# Express
UML Tool - ArgoUML (Please suggest some other free UML 2.0 compliant tool).

I choose Visual C# Express, becoz I felt it easiest to program in it.

This is the first draft of the WinHome Description and will evolve with
more user requests and intervention.

Initially I will try to make just the personal finance module, once completed
I will move on to others. However, I encourage all to parallelly take up / add
activities.

Personal Finance Manager.
Aim: To make an opensource, object oriented and highly extensible PFM along
with the
intent to provide all the documents and UML diagrams to help a new person
understand the architecture.

Proposed Functionality:
1) User Authentication.
2) Multiple Accounts per user.
3) Add transactions to each bank account
A) Single transaction at a time
B) Multiple transactions in form of an Excel sheet
4) Add/Edit/Delete Operations on transactions
5) Fixed Monthly transaction reminder.
( This will be like be like a reminder about approaching due date of payment )
6) Critical Alarms.
( This would include if the Credit Card balance exceeds the user set permitted
limit.)
7) Report Generation.
This is the most scoring point of WinHome, I have made a separate document
about the
detailed reports.

Any contribution from visitors is most welcome.
I also need guidance from experienced programmers and invite them to join this
project.
UML / C# gurus, please join and help me.

Regards,
Abhay K Srivastava
