There are different ways to achieve
1 of the way is rewrite your javascript as
alert(document.getElementById("<%=txtName.ClientID%>").value);

Roopesh,
ClientId is a server side method
Just c this. I created a Button
<asp:Button ID="Button3" runat="server" Text="Sub" Width="96px" />
and within Javascript
(1)alert(document.getElementById('ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$Button3').value);
(2)alert(document.getElementById('Button3').value);
in the script side (1) works but (2) shows error (Object reqd.)
Now how i get this changed name of Button3 from Javascript.
