Hi Lohith,

Thanks for your reply, surely its of great help. Is there anybody you know who
has implemented the same in any of the projects, We are debating on whether to
go for SMS Gateway or Web Service ( We found some webservices, but it wont
support all the Mobile Service Providers in US). Could you suggest us any SMS
Gateway service in US which supports most of the Mobile Service Providers.

Regards

Shyam

Shyam,

The way to do this is you need a SMS gateway to first start out with.

Once you have a tie up with the SMS gateway, the gateway guys will tell you as
to what is the URL that you need to hit from your code to send a SMS. Its
usually a HTTP get or post. You will pass certain parameters to that request.
Usually its your userid and password with the gateway, then the mobile number
to which you need to send SMS, then the SMS message itself.

One another way is to use a Webservice as you have told. First you need to find
out as to whether is there any webservice which allows you to send SMS for free
(which I doubt). If you indeed find any webservice, then create a proxy for
that webservice in your Web application and invoke the method.

Hope this gives some idea.

We are working on a Web Application on ASP.NET 2.0 with C# as code behind. We
have a new requirement from one of our client in US to implement the SMS
functionality in our existing application,

With some googling we got some points not very sure whether it works in US

To Send it like the email For Ex. in india for Airtel <mobile
number>@airtel.co.in.
To Use a WebService to send SMS (Free or Paid we can recommend)
        To Use SMS Gateway.
If any of you have already implemented same for US, Please let me know the best
approach.

Regards

M. Shyam
