hi dreams,    we also had a similiar kind of performance problem in the past 
with informix. The steps which we took was : 1.Check the SQL if there are cross 
joins , anyother extra effort the SQL is doing to retrive the data . How much 
time does the sql alone takes to execute ?  once if u calculate the time, does 
the ASP.Net alone takes much time for loading the data? 2.If ur sql is perfect 
and it takes the required time THEN if ASP.Net alone takes more time for 
loading , what u can do is , u can set a counter like u can display a max of 
1500 records or so . You can query the First 1500 records from the data set and 
then display. And then if u user wants to see the other records they can change 
the selection criteria. 3. Check if ASP.Net paging can help.   Thanks  Senthil
