Silverlight Jason Beres Silverlight 1.0 : Its a plugin and its
cross platform cross browsers compatible. Silverlight 1.1 alpha release : It is
integrated with CLR. You have managed code. You can get the Javascript DOM
model in code behind also. In Opera browser it is done through Mono Mono
Project ( for Linux implementation) By looking into Silverlight.js file we
can came to know which version of Silverlight is installed. In this file look
for CreateSilverlight function.Important point is scene.xaml For playing
video in browser you have to use MediaElement. We can rendering elements one
over the other means texbox in a button. This is a cool feature. Once you
selected Silverlight template in Devenv you will get the silverlight project.
There is no toolbox for adding controls in Silverlight. You have to type and
add the controls. By using Expression Blende you can add the controls. Its a
designer tool. One best feature in this designer is you can see the code and
the design in one screen only (split screen) Silverlight 1.0 major features:
1.XAML 2. Http Downloader All the activities in Silverlight are asynchronous.
He showed some demos like: Getting reflection of an object (using
RotatingGear, Rolling Gear ,Image:OpacityMask) How to get javascript DOM
elements in Codebehind in Codebehind. Next coming functionalities:
-------------------------------- 1. Safe isolated storage (cache 1MB) 2. Client
based file upload control etc.. Chris Anderson : Inventor of WPF and
webservices Jason wrote a book on Silverlight 1.0 [EMAIL PROTECTED] is
his id Some of the questions asked by audience: There is no 3D support --
only 2D support
