Heh, that is probably it: wk...@thor:~$ darcs --version 1.0.9 (release) That would probably make any darcs lover cry ;). The problem was a stupid typo in Darcs._vcs_get_file_contents(), which uses a more elegant invocation availiable only for darcs >= 2.0.0pre2.
