After installing, I compiled the most important driver, and got 2 errors:
error: implicit declaration of function ‘create_proc_entry’ [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type On 12.04 I didn't get these errors and it compiled and worked. A search on the web shows that there's a bug filed on the first error for kernel 3.11 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oss4/+bug/1208407) and the kernel that was downloaded with wget was 3.12.
