You just send simple text commands to the Famous last words! The reality is that the meter I'm looking at does seem to have a driver for linux that I found on github. However the protocol is strange. From what I've read it reads the LCD numeric segments and translates that and sends the result. Haven't looked at the other direction yet. Oh and some of the multimeters that use this chip have an infrared LED that tx/rx to an LED tx/rx connected to the USB port. Strange. But some folks have used this to create a wireless multimeter. > meter and read back the ASCII result. > So any language will do.
