As a counter-example I run a really pathetic (RF-wise) homemade GPS front-end just inches away from the BBB. It works fine. No shielding, crappy grounding, uses 3.3V directly from the expansion connector, no secondary voltage regulation, no ferrite beads, … But I don't use an HDMI connection, just Ethernet. http://www.jks.com/sdgps/sdgps.html
