That ought to work, but you'll need a DVI cable as well since it's only
6 inches long.

I have used standard micro-hdmi to hdmi cables:

3 foot:

...along with an HDMI to DVI adapter, similar to this:

...but I haven't actually had to buy any yet, as I had about 6 lying
around already.  That way I can use DVI or HDMI monitors without having
to get new cables.
