According to section 8.6 of the SRM, you can use 2A from the VDD_5V
supply (the unswitched raw DC power jack) assuming your power supply is
not a limitation.  Remember the BeagleBone needs 1A to run as well, so
that means you need at least a 3A supply.

If you want the switched SYS_5V that comes up when the BeagleBone is
turned on, you are limited to 500 mA.
