I discovered (the hard way) that some WiFi adapters don't like special characters in the passphrase. My Logic Supply USB adapter had no problem with my existing passphrase that included a dash (short), exclamation point, and pound symbol. But the Alfa Network AWUS036H was not happy with that, and would not connect. Simply changing the special characters to letters and numbers easily took care of the problem! I'm using Ubuntu and ROS on the BBB.
