I know there were also some efforts to turn PRUs into camera ports (for example, see Interacto on http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/PRU_Projects). A TIer also supported a customer on a similar effort, but I don't know if any of that code was ever opened up. I don't know how well any of these projects worked.
