Very odd, as you need the disk to load the debian-installer... What brand/type of microSD card are you using? With the current v3.17.x some sandisk's mmc have been failing for me. First try a different microSD, otherwise pass "--use-beta-kernel" which will pull in v3.18.x instead. (we will be migrating to v3.18.x pretty quickly..)
