I installed the image from https://rcn-ee.net/deb/minfs/jessie/debian-jessie-minimal-armhf-2014-11-10.tar.xz according to https://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/BeagleBone+Black#BeagleBoneBlack-Debian8%28pre-release%29
I then ran apt-get upgrade and I am running the default rsyslog.
