You can plug in a set of (amplified) computer speakers to the audio board 
for development purposes, 
and one or two of the Adafruit microphones as others show.  

Depending what you are trying to do, you may want the speakers physically 
separate from the 
microphones, otherwise all that the microphones hear are your own speakers.

Once you get it working, and know what you want, there are options to get a 
custom cape 
designed and manufactured.
