Sorry, I am a bit of newbie when it comes to dealing with the bb-kernel. I 
managed to do a full rebuild, which has updated the kernel to version 4.1.3.

I then applied the patch and rebuilt (without updating this time!).

Unfortunately it has not made any difference to the behaviour. It is still 
not sending any packets out of eth1.
