Noisy (electrically) environment and no ferrite beads on the USB
cable. Might be the first point to check then.

As long as it's not a beagle-hardware related thing, and rather
peripherals,  I'm happy-ish.

However, there's no USB hub involved, only a single 4-port usb->Serial
device.
