The operating systems are based on Debian:

The manual for the apt system for installing/uninstalling software:

This manual is very detailed, and probably more than you need.
If you do a few searches on Debian, you can find numerous help guides.
The most common command executed in a terminal is

sudo apt-get install (name of software package)
