Is there any option in your fdisk to edit the disk geometry?  Hard drives 
grew rapidly so numbers of heads, tracks, etc quickly outgrew the number of 
bits set aside to store them and the solution was to divide one number by 2 
and multiply a different one by 2.  Anyway the geometry is usually flexible.
