My (presumably 'flasher') Debian 9 image installed itself automatically on an old (2Gb A6A) BBB that I tried it in. However it *didn't* do the same when plugged into what I'm pretty sure is a newer (4Gb Bxx) BBB which is the one I actually want to upgrade. I'll try holding the boot button down when I power up and see if that works.
