I suspect that, unless you are using a USB microphone (which generates
PCM/WAV data directly) then you will need to use one of the ADC pins. Those
pins are limited a max of 1.8V -- so you likely will need to apply some
sort of level shifter to the output of the microphone.
If you plan to use the PRU, you should check the TI manual for SoC used
on the BBB to confirm it can set up and read the ADC.
