If you load the software for BeagleBoard-xM from
https://beagleboard.org/latest-images onto a microSD card, it should boot
and give you a Linux desktop with a touchscreen.

Someone did a write-up at https://www.ietfng.org/nwf/ee/embcomp/bbxm.html,
but I tried it about a month ago and the EEPROM detection seemed to "just
work".
