The Beaker team would be very interested in helping you get this working and merged, if you would like to develop it. Debian/Ubuntu support has been on our wish list for a long time but has never been high enough in priority for us to work on it. Probably the best place to start would be to try using the Debian installer's kickstart compatibility layer, with the existing kickstart templates that Beaker uses to generate kickstarts.
