This works perfectly fine in beancount. (I've done it.) Have you tried it?

price statements have nothing to do with making transactions; you specify 
the price in a transaction. It is entirely possible to effectively use 
beancount and never make a price statement. They are primarily (only?) 
useful for reporting. It makes little sense to me to extend the parser to 
support time unless bean-query also supports time.
