Been using spacemacs (which I mostly only use for beancount purposes) for
years now. Not really conversant in Lisp or emacs.

I just (last week or so) started getting this specific error:-

file mode specification error Lisp nesting exceeds max-lisp-eval-depth

Search leads me to this reddit thread
https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/xaknnl/maxlispevaldepth_error_with_beancount_files/

And indeed my beancount files all begin with this header which used to
work:-

;; -*- mode: org; mode: beancount; -*-

Once I remove mode:org however, things 'work' except since I don't have
org-mode I lose folding (which I use often).

Weird thing is that restarting emacs/spacemacs (without changes) SOMETIMES
works, can't find a pattern when it does or doesn't (just yet).

Anyone has advise? For reference, my spacemacs configuration adds the
'beancount' layer.
