Yes!  There's broad consensus that Beehive should include some "library"
of basic controls as a key part of its value proposition, and a database
control certainly makes sense to be in that set.  What's not so clear is
the exact makeup, distribution and packaging mechanism for such a set --
a few folks are working on a proposal for that, and I'll let them speak
up.

It's worth pointing out that a working database control is already
checked into Beehive right now, under
controls/test/src/controls/org/apache/beehive/controls/test/controls/dat
abase/.  It will in all likelihood move as the plan for the basic
controls library firms up.
