My first perl/web experiences were form handling... collecting data,
writing to files.
Registration forms and polls were among my first scripts.

A natural extension of this was creating various postcard engines.
Collect data, save data, email someone a URL, retrive data, display data
with a pretty picture.

A majority of my work right now is creating content managing/publishing
tools... a form based interface to a database, accessible from a
browser; a button that reads the data from the database and creates
appropriate HTML files with the information requested included.

On the side, I've toyed with using perl modules to get local weather
forecasts from the government (NOAA) and sucking news feeds into a
personal portal. I'd like to take that one step further and be able to
rate certain keywords so that it will have a higher chance of feeding me
stories I'd be interested in reading.
