True.  OTOH, the Perl community has not moved nearly enough to satisfy the 
demand that these vendors are recognizing and fulfilling.  I don't see it 
happening around perl 5, but hopefully it will be part of perl 6.

(I'm not disagreeing, just offering a tangential viewpoint.)
