I would also like to add a few tidbits of posting advice for people new to
the list (or to mailing lists in general), in addition to Elaine's sage
advice about jeopardy quoting:

1) Please do not post messages that are HTML. Not everyone in the world
has an email reader that can handle HTML -- this is particularly the case
for people on Unix-based systems, and we have quite a few of these on this
list.

2) Please use descriptive subject lines. A subject line of "Function
won't return a hash reference" or "What the heck is a closure?" is much
better than "Newbie problem!" or "Help!". This is especially helpful for
threads that go on for a couple of days.

3) Please include a reasonable code sample to illustrate the problem you
are having. It is also best to cut and paste code from your script rather
than retyping it into the message. Likewise, if you post code that is a
solution to a question, please run the code and make sure it works the way
you say it does before posting code with bugs or syntax errors.
