Well, when used for advertisements they certianly do.

There are cases where they are usefull.  In an online Baseball game I am
working with, we use pop-up windows for scouting reports because almost
every time a player clicks on a scouting link, they want to compare the
new data with what is still being displayed.

However, I would certianly give up that functionality if pop-ups could
be killed worldwide.

Kind of like how I would have NO hesitation in pressing a button if it
would destroy all song remakes.  There are a few remakes I like.. but
I would glady sacrifice them to get rid of all the crap out there. :-)
