Yes and no.
Supplicants should always try first, and chomp is horribly simple if
you have even the most basic documentation, or can access www.perl.org
to get to theirs.
But maybe the person is on a system where they can email, but have no
browser? It *does* happen, if very rarely. Maybe their perl is stalled
incompletely with no docs, or in a strange place so that they can't
find the docs? Contrived, yes, but possible.
I agree that one should always RTFM before bothering hundreds of
people, but don't get a case of the ass because someone was careless --
they might not've been so careless after all. =o)
I agree that it's good to tell them what they should have done --
perldoc -f whetever to find it for themselves -- but a flame with no
help is no help, and worse for cluttering the bandwidth than a stupid
but simple and probably innocent if careless question.

Again, yes and no. I've asked stupid (and I do mee STOOPID) questions
on the list myself. I'd like for people to patiently and helpfully tell
me why I'm an idiot, not just flame me.
