Hey Robert,

Friday, July 06, 2001, 4:01:39 PM, my MUA believes you used

As others have suggested, I like Learning Perl, and the CD Bookshelf
is a wonderful resource (may want to wait for the new releases).

I started with DOS, and did not find perl until I was forced to be an
admin on AIX (IBM's unix). I agree that unix (including Linux) is a
great thing to learn, I would not try to do both. You should be able
to learn perl (get Learning Perl on Win32 from O'Reilly) on Win32. I
currently run Win2k as you can see from my sig, but as far as perl is
concerned it is the same as WinNT. I would suggest learning perl for
the OS that you intend to run your code on. There are not that many
differences, but they are there!

Have fun, and keep this list in mind when you get stuck. I always get
great advice here.
