There a number of modules Text::PDF being one, but one I tried for
our business was from www.sanface.com which seemed quite slick. The cost
for txt2pdf was single license of $99. The one I ended up looking at was
txt2pdfPro which could do compression ( single cpu $850). This seems like a
bit, but depends on what you want to do. We have between 5 to 6,000 files
(10 to 12 gig) which could be addressed in one sitting by the program verses
an individual having to sit there. The compression I used took a 18 meg
file and reproduced to 3.6 meg PDF.

Note: Depending on what is being done, there might be problems from
a copyright perspective if doing on the web. At least I saw that come out
of another thread on a different mailing list.

Wags ;)

Subject: PDF's on the fly...

Would it be at all possible to create PDF files on the fly using perl? I'm
thinking are there any modules which would do the job and does anyone have
any experience in using them?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running the stuff on solaris 5.6 if that makes a difference...

Many thanks,

joni
