Try http://developer.netscape.com/docs/manuals/js/client/jsref/toc.htm
particularly the index. You should be able to use JS to rewrite the
link onClick, but I *REALLY* think you're probably taking an ugly road
here. I'd say you'd be better of with a server-side solution. 
I have no idea about JS lists, but if that's what you decide to do,
they should be able to help. I always just use the manuals at the link above.
