Hey all, If the authors themselves are not permitted to state directly, then let those who know how the royalties work speak frankly.
I have my company order books (ie. books published by O'Reilly) oftentimes. To keep this on topic, let's just say that Gilligan wants to order a few Perl-oriented books. The only knowledge I have of the publishing world is that of the exceptionally kind words I find in the foreward/preface/acks of each book I read. So... I'm looking for a recommendation on a site to buy books from that can be auth'ed into the purchasing db, that will maximize the profits of the author, the crew that helped write the book, and/or the publisher (and not just the site reselling). I'm not looking to buy discount material. I would sooner pay *2 if I knew that the money was somehow being directed to those who actually had their hand in the work. On, and off-list recommendations are welcome. Off-list replies would remain anonymous. Steve
