which is why i always point them to it.

i always tell them to skim and reread docs over and over. and there are
now many perldocs which are tutorials and labeled as such. all are
listed in perldoc perl

so we (the community) tell them where to look first and then come back
with more questions. it is better if they even try to read a little and
ask than just to ask. getting them to the docs is the real goal, not
just answering a question. as i keep saying this has been debated for
years and pointing to the docs is always the best long term way to get
newbies to read the docs.
