Interesting. There are as many different flavors of opinions as there are people. :-) I'm just excited to be able to use a different color of perl. :-) I see it like cuisine: Eating italian is great but sometimes you want something a little different to more fit your mood, like Thai or Indian. None, in my opinion, are better than the others... just different, spiced up in a different way. :-)

As an aside, I heard an interesting and funny talk last week entitled, "Perl 5 is Alive, Perl 6 is Dead, something that escapes me". The point of the talk was that every time we say Perl 6, we're saying Perl 5 is somehow lesser or inferior. As Perl 6 has been years in the coming it kinda makes it seem like we're making do with Perl 5! Perl 6 is not Perl 5. Perl 6 is a specification and will be quite different from Perl 5. The speaker recommended Rakudo and convinced me.
