I would prefer to be able to build in a way to not get completely incompatible to the other modules, that come with the distribution.

And maybe it is not a too good idea to disable threads, as I planned to use them.

How about "debug". Is this enabled by default? At least it seems like Archlinux doesn't enable something that has to do with "debug".
