I am looking for some advice on where to look/start for creating a log filter. I am looking at setting up a remote loghost and sending all system events to it. (this in no problem.) However, I am looking at writing a wrapper that will listen to the port and when it sees certain strings, i.e. critical, warning, ..., it needs to send an snmp packet to another host. Does anyone have any ideas on how I should go about starting this task? I've looked around abit to see if I am reinventing the wheel, but it doesn't appear so.
